IIT Kharagpur students refused to take their degrees from Manmohan Singh in support of Anna Hazare

New Delhi. On Monday, the students of IIT Kharagpur refused to take their degrees from the hands of the Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. These 'Anna Hazare' and 'India against Corruption' supporting students also even appealed to come to the convocation ceremony wearing a 'Gandhi Topi' (cap) in support of Anna Hazare. They decided to boycott one of the most crucial and important events of their life just in support of the 'Jan Lokpal Bill' movement.

Team Anna also welcomed the decision of the IIT Kharagpur students who decided that they will not be taking their degrees from the hands of the PM. On this, the leading member of team Anna and his very close supporter Arvind Kejriwal stated that he is very happy to know that the students of the college in which he studied have taken such a nice and daring step in support of the country. He also stated that he welcomes their innovative and effective  way of oppose.

On Sunday, Shashi Shekhar Singh, a student of M.Tech programme of IIT Kharagpur refused to receive his degree from the hands of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for showing his support for Anna Hazare and his cause. Then on Monday, some more students joined this cause of Shahi Shekhar and reacted in the same manner. Shashi Shekhar's friend Ritesh Singh told that they are on a hunger strike since 16th August in support of Anna.

Some students of IIT even appealed to wear 'Gandhi topi' in the convocation ceremony and gave the warning that if they will be stopped or withheld from wearing this then they will not even participate in the function. All the students did this before the arrival of the PM, although the convocation ceremony was held peacefully without any obstacle or trouble.

Chinese language to be added to the courses of IIT - Bombay

One of the best engineering colleges of India, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, has decided to teach the students, not Spanish or Italian, but Mandarin. The college has taken up this step and the students will have to learn not only the language but also the work and social set-up of China.

All this has happened after some of the top universities of China have shown keen interest in collaboration with IIT Bombay, which has seen growth opportunities in this dealing. A management officer says that some students have already shown respect to the Chinese language and wish to enroll in it too.

The officer also said that the institute's main focus is not only the language development but also that the students must learn Chinese work and lifestyle. To achieve this goal, movies may also be shown to the students along with regular classes. The maximum capacity of the batch will be kept to seventy and one of the universities collaborating with IIT-B are Beijing Jiaotong University.
