A latest research and study work of Japanese scientist resulted in the discovery of cell which is known as the 'naturla killer cell'. This this study, scientists came to a conclusion that a lot more than the carcinogenic characteristics of the exposure to asbestos may have a vital part in the growth of the cancer. This is due to the period of time taken by Mesothelioma to grow and develop.
The NK cells which are also known as the Natural killers play a role of natural defenders against cancer in a body. These cells function in such a manner that they eliminate all the cancer causing development i.e the pre-cancerous formations in the body before they start causing damage and harm to the body. The researchers studying the effects of Mesothelioma and exposure to asbestos at the Kawasaki Medical School discovered that apart from being responsible to trigger the cell inflammation, the exposure of asbestos to a body results in the dis functioning of the NK (natural killer) cells which means a highly increased probability and risk of getting attacked by cancer.
Both healthy patients and Mesothelioma patients were studied under the project and it was discovered that asbestos exposure leave a harmful effect on NK in both the patients. Control test was also conducted with a glass wool called Fiberglass. This deadly cancer, Mesothelioma is affecting many people around the globe and is rapidly extending its reach globally.
