New Delhi. The effect of the economic boom in India has also had an impact on the sale of alcohol here. Two Indian alcohol brands have come in the list of the top-10 alcohol brnads of the world.
According to the latest figures, in terms of sale of alcohol, two Indian brands namely 'Bagpiper' and 'McDowell's no. 1' have made their spot in the top-10 list. Though Bagpiper was already in this list, but 'McDowell's no. 1' has made its spot recently. The interesting news is that both the brands belong to the 'United Spirits' of the Vijay Mallya group.
According to the liqour research frim of London (IWSR), both these brands have given this honour due to their record breaking sales in India. In terms of sale, 'Soju Jinro' of South Korea has topped the list with a sale of 6 Crore 77 Lac cases. Indian brand Bagpiper stands on 7th position with a net sale of 1 Crore 92 Lac cases while 'McDowells no. 1' recorded a sale of 1 Crore 53 Lac 70 Thousand alcohol cases. It recorded an increase of 10.6% in it's sale. One case contains 12 bottles of alcohol.
The alcohol market is rising at a rate of 16% in India, while it is rising at a rate of 9.75% in the whole world. But the interesting fact is that Asia contributes half in the net sale of alcohol all over the world.
